Living inBurgaw

About this site

Not a tourism board.

Living in Burgaw exists because the good local guide didn't. This is an attempt to fix that — one honest recommendation at a time.

Why this site exists.

When you move to Burgaw — or come to visit seriously — you quickly learn that the information online is either outdated, generic, or simply wrong. Tourism pages list the same three things. Review sites don't distinguish between what's actually good and what just exists. And the real locals hold the best spots quietly.

This site is an attempt to change that. A place where the recommendations are short because they're curated. Where the write-ups are honest because they're written by someone who has been there. Where the list stays small because adding mediocre things helps no one.

What we include — and what we don't.

The standard here is simple: would you tell a friend about it? Not a polite acquaintance — a friend you'd feel bad steering wrong. The courthouse square on a clear morning? Yes. The chain restaurant on the bypass? No. The Black River on a weekday when it's quiet? Absolutely.

We try to include things that are specific to Burgaw and Pender County — things you couldn't get the same version of in Wilmington or Jacksonville or anywhere else on the coast. The longleaf pine flatwoods. The blueberry farms in June. The particular quietness of downtown on a Tuesday.

A note on accuracy.

Hours change. Places close. Roads flood. We update what we can, but if something here is wrong — closed, moved, changed — please tell us. The contact form below is watched. A quick note helps more than a bad review helps anyone.

“The best thing about Burgaw is that it hasn't been discovered yet. The second best thing is that some of the people here want to keep it that way.”

Who is behind this.

This is a local project, not a media company. There's no ad network, no affiliate commission, no sponsored placement. Every recommendation here exists because someone who lives in or around Burgaw thought it was genuinely worth your time.

If you live here and want to contribute — a place, a correction, a write-up — the contact form is below, and the bar is just: would you tell a friend?
